ABOUT FORMBALLER
Football player form tracking application for fantasy football managers and sports bettors
What is FormBaller?
FormBaller is a football player form tracking application that identifies which players are performing at their peak RIGHT NOW using recency-weighted momentum analysis.
Unlike traditional statistics sites that show season-long averages, FormBaller calculates form scores (20-100) using gradient recency weighting (most recent = 2.5x the 10th match back), plus consistency bonuses for hot streaks and dry spell penalties for cold streaks - helping fantasy football managers, sports bettors, and football analysts spot hot streaks and cold spells 2-3 weeks before they become obvious.
Currently tracking 2000+ players across Premier League, La Liga, Serie A, Bundesliga, Ligue 1, UEFA Champions League, UEFA Europa League, and UEFA Conference League.
THE PROBLEM WE SOLVE
It was September 29th, 2025, and I was staring at my Fantasy Premier League team, frustrated. Again. My highly-rated expensive midfielder had blanked for the third week in a row, while some "unknown" player I'd overlooked performed insanely well.
I opened multiple pages full of detailed player statistics and data, but all I found were: ratings, ratings, and more ratings. Clean, organized tables showed me that my struggling midfielder had a respectable average rating of 7.3 — but those numbers were lying to me.
See, that 7.3 average included five matches in August where he scored 9.0, 8.5, 8.7. But his last five matches? 6.5, 6.8, 6.3, 7.0, 6.6. He wasn't a 7.3 player anymore. He was fading, and the data was hiding it behind a season-long average that treated his August brilliance the same as his October mediocrity.
My first thought was, okay, is there any way to track a player's actual form? I dove into the research — and then I realized there isn't a single platform that truly shows a player's current form momentum, only statistics. The few that attempt it calculate a "form index" using matches played eight months ago, which completely misses the point.
The Realization:
Every major football stats platform shows you what happened.
None of them show you what's happening RIGHT NOW.
That's when the idea hit me: what if we weighted recent matches more heavily? What if instead of treating all matches equally, we prioritized momentum? What if we could capture the form, the confidence, the trajectory of a player's performance?
By midnight, I had sketched out the algorithm. By October 1st, I was coding. By mid-October, FormBaller was born.
WHAT MAKES FORMBALLER DIFFERENT FROM SOFASCORE, FOTMOB, AND FLASHSCORE?
FormBaller serves a different purpose than traditional football statistics sites like SofaScore, FotMob, and FlashScore. Those platforms excel at live scores, season averages, and comprehensive match data. FormBaller specializes in player form momentum tracking - identifying who's performing at their peak right now, not who had a good season overall.
TRADITIONAL STATS SITES
(SofaScore, FotMob, FlashScore, WhoScored)
- ✗ Season-long averages
- ✗ All matches weighted equally
- ✗ Yesterday's performance = today's data
- ✗ Can't spot trends until it's obvious
- ✗ Focus on comprehensive stats, not momentum
FORMBALLER
Player form tracking specialist
- ✓ Gradient recency weighting (1.5x to 0.6x)
- ✓ Consistency bonuses & dry spell penalties
- ✓ Captures momentum in real-time
- ✓ Spots breakout players 2-3 weeks early
- ✓ Shows you who's performing NOW
We're not replacing traditional stats sites - they're excellent for what they do. But when you need to know which player is peaking right now, which midfielder is entering a slump, or which striker is about to explode in Fantasy Premier League, FormBaller gives you the answer before everyone else figures it out.
Best practice: Use both together
- • Check live scores and news on SofaScore/FotMob/FlashScore
- • Use FormBaller to identify which players are in peak form for your fantasy team or betting decisions
- • Combine comprehensive stats (traditional sites) with momentum analysis (FormBaller)
HOW DOES PLAYER FORM TRACKING WORK?
WE TRACK THE LAST 10 MATCHES
Only matches where a player played 15+ minutes count. No cameo appearances, no noise.
RECENT MATCHES MATTER MORE
Your most recent match is weighted 1.5x higher than your 10th-oldest match. Hot streaks rise fast, cold streaks fall fast.
WE ADD CONTEXT
Goals and assists get bonuses. Minutes played matter. Goalkeepers get position adjustments (their ratings are naturally inflated).
OUT = FORM SCORE (0-100)
A single number that tells you: is this player hot, cold, or lukewarm right now?

OUR PHILOSOPHY
"Form is temporary, class is permanent."
Everyone knows this football cliché. But here's the thing: in the short term - the timeframe that matters for weekly fantasy decisions, match-to-match betting, and spotting trends - form is everything.
We're not trying to tell you who the best player in the world is. That's not our job. We're telling you who's playing like the best player right now.
We believe in:
- Transparency: Our methodology is public. No black boxes.
- Simplicity: One number tells the story. No information overload.
- Utility: Data should help you make better decisions, not just look pretty.
- Speed: By the time everyone realizes a player is in form, it's too late. We spot it early.
THE TEAM
FormBaller is currently a solo passion project built by a developer who got tired of missing obvious form trends in his Fantasy Premier League team. What started as a weekend hack to solve my own problem turned into something I think can help thousands of other football fans, fantasy managers, and analysts.
I'm constantly iterating based on feedback, refining the algorithm, and adding features. If you have ideas, spot issues, or just want to chat about football analytics, I'd love to hear from you.
